Now the season is over. All of it. We have our champs: Pittsburgh (NHL), Hershey (AHL), South Carolina (ECHL), Windsor (WHL).
Now we wait. I love Summer. I really do. But September can't get here soon enough. Thankfully there are things to tie me over. I am a hopeless Mariners fan and am going over for a game next month. I will also be at the Spokane Indians games on and off. They don't serve garlic fries there but still a fun atmosphere. I can also pass the time with NHL 2K9 for the Nintendo Wii. I could also go old school and play NHL 97 for the PlayStation One (as the Winnipeg Jets!). Or I could go REALLY old school and play Blades of Steel in all of its 8-bit glory.
Then there is the draft coming up. I'll be all over that. Jared Cowen is a sure fire top ten pick. Most mock drafts have him going either sixth to the Phoenix Coyotes or seventh to the Leafs. As for Levko Koper, he is probably going in the fourth round. Stefan Ulmer may get picked also, but if he does it's probably not until the seventh round. Other WHL notes I found interesting: Collin Bowman, the younger brother of Drayson Bowman, is expected to be picked in the third round. Also, most mock drafts have Vancouver's Evander Kane picked fourth to the Atlanta Thrashers. Too bad. I kinda like Atlanta. But watching Evander Kane just makes me angry.
