Shine like it does.

What a difference a month makes.

Halloween seems so long ago. It was Halloween night that the Chiefs lost at home to Portland and ended up with a 5-5-1-0 record. The loss also put Spokane 13 points behind Tri-City. When November rolled around, however, the Chiefs kicked up a gear and went 10-3 that month which included road wins against Portland, Calgary, and Tri-City. They started off December the same way with a 4-2 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds. Spokane now has a 17-8-2-0 record and are sitting just four points back of Tri-City. Kyle Beach scored a pair of goals, the latter being an empty netter. Jared Spurgeon found the back of the net off a sweet pass from Mitch Wahl. Also Dominik Uher finally gets his first goal of the season, which turned out to be the game winner. James Reid was Captain Awesome again in net, which anymore is the norm for him.

This team is really improving fast. It helps having everyone healthy again, especially Spurgeon. The Chiefs are simply a better team with him in the lineup. The newbies also continue to improve. Spokane is definitely a contender for the U.S. division title, and for that matter the western conference.

Spokane travels to Portland for an important game Sunday. Portland stands two points up on the Chiefs in the U.S. division for second place. Then Prince George comes calling Tuesday. After that it's the teddy bear toss game Saturday against Swift Current. More on that game later. But for now:

Go Chiefs!
